01Who we are
StepLobe is provided by Opaline Clinique Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16660864), registered office Flat 6 Lancia House, 9 Oaklands Road, London NW2 6GS, United Kingdom. Contact: aryan@clinicscheck.com.
02Your account
- You can register with an email address and password or with Google sign-in. You must give accurate details and keep your login secure.
- Your account is personal. Do not share it. Each account may have at most 2 active sessions; signing in on a third device ends the oldest session.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
03Plans and prices
- StepLobe Pro, monthly: regular price $24.99/month; book launch offer $14.99/month.
- StepLobe Pro, yearly: regular price $199/year; book launch offer $139/year.
- Prices are in US dollars. Launch offers may end at any time; ending an offer does not change the price of a subscription you already hold unless we tell you in advance.
- There is no free plan.
04Free trial
New subscribers to the yearly plan get a 3-day free trial. A payment card is required to start it. The monthly plan has no free trial and is charged when you subscribe. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts automatically to a paid Pro subscription and your card is charged the plan price.
Only one free trial is allowed per person: per account and per payment card. To enforce this we use a card fingerprint provided by Stripe (never your card number). If a trial is not available, your subscription starts and is charged immediately.
Signed-in users without a subscription can use a limited free preview (a set number of questions, flashcards and study packs, and week 1 of the study plan). We may change the preview at any time.
05Payments, renewal and cancellation
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period until cancelled.
- You can cancel at any time in the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then.
06Refunds and the pass guarantee
Refunds under our pass guarantee are governed by the terms on the Pass guarantee page. In short: on eligible purchases, a student who follows the plan and does not pass can choose a full refund or 12 more months of Pro. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
07Acceptable use and protection of our content
The question banks, explanations, flashcards, images and study packs are our content, protected by copyright and licensed to you for personal study only. You must not:
- copy, download, scrape, screenshot in bulk, record, reproduce, share, sell or publish any part of the question bank or other content;
- use bots, scripts or automated tools to access the service, or try to bypass rate limits, session limits or other protections;
- share your account or let others use it.
Content shown to you carries an invisible, account-specific watermark, and we apply rate limits and monitoring to detect copying. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, without refund where the law allows.
08Not medical advice; no affiliation
StepLobe is an exam-preparation tool. It is not medical advice and must not be used for diagnosis or treatment. We do not guarantee any exam result except as set out in the pass guarantee terms.
USMLE® is a joint program of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). StepLobe is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NBME, the FSMB or the USMLE. “NBME-style” and “USMLE-style” describe the format of our original questions.
09Service availability
We work to keep StepLobe available but cannot promise uninterrupted service. Features may change. Some apps and features are marked “coming soon” and are not yet available. The service is hosted on Vercel and Supabase (EU, Frankfurt).
10Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11Privacy
How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
12Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; we will change the date above and tell you of significant changes. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
